Mikayla works for Triangle Rock Club Fayetteville and started working with the AAC when she was looking for someone to help with the education needs of the gym. Fortunately, she found Matthew Arevian (the Sandhills chapter chair at the time) and began helping coordinate clinics for the local climbing community. The two worked well together and when Matthew’s military career took him to Colorado Mikayla volunteered to take up the post of Chapter chair.
Mikayla started climbing in Washington State and continues to look for great things to climb in North Carolina. She began a women’s program with TRC to empower women to climb and feel more comfortable in the gym. She hopes to continue to help provide educational clinics for climbers in the area and to grow the community as a whole where climbing can be available to everyone.
