Emily Cumberland - Section Co-Chair
Emily found climbing in 2011 while living in Washington, D.C. There she found kinship in her local climbing organization and was initiated on the glassy mica schist of Great Falls and Carderock.
After learning there were fewer spiders to be found in ice climbing, she found her new favorite hobby in the winter months. She now spends most of her free time on multi-pitch trad in the Northeast, counting the days until ice season.
Howard Sebold -
Section Co-Chair
NY Section Chair Howard Sebold lives in Brooklyn, NY, with his wife and 2 young children. He discovered his passion for nature and the outdoors as a child during summer sleep-away camp. In 2002 Howard joined the AAC as part of a winter alpine ascent of Mt. Katahdin, ME. His climbing has focused mostly on North America with ascents of peaks including Mount Andromeda, Gannett Peak and Pico de Orizaba.
Howard currently has his eye on Denali but is in the midst of one of the greatest and most challenging adventures, raising two small children.
