David Sewell

Chapter Co-Chair

David has been climbing since 1997. He has frequented Glen Canyon, Joshua Tree and Castle Rock but his heart will always belong to Yosemite Valley. He relocated to the east coast in 2004. First to Washington, DC where he dabbled on the rocks at Great Falls. Then in 2012 he made his home in New York City and eventually became a regular at the gunks. He can be found climbing ice in The Adirondacks climbing ice in the winter and surfing at Far Rockaway year round. He spent one weekend hanging out with Will Gadd and they saw two thirds of the band Fugazi play live in DC. Will thinks David is a real cool dude. Amongst other endeavors David calls himself an actor in case anyone wants to cast him in something. He has been involved with the AAC since 2014.

Timur Tusiray Chapter Co-Chair

Timur discovered climbing about a decade ago in Los Angeles at his local crag, the UCLA climbing gym. His love for the sport grew from there, and after moving to New York in 2016 he has been exploring all that there is to offer both at the local climbing gyms, and in the great outdoors.

He started the Brooklyn Chapter with his good buddy and climbing partner as a way to get further involved with this awesome community of climbers, and help contribute to the role the climbing world plays in furthering social change and protecting our outdoor spaces.

The Brooklyn Chapter is an awesome spot for those who want to start their climbing journeys, climbers who want to expand their skill sets, and for anyone looking to be a part of something bigger than themselves!
