MONTANA SECTION

Montana is America’s unsung climbing paradise. From the ice mecca of Hyalite Canyon to the countless miles of granite tucked away in the many ranges that sweep across the state, it’s not hard to find crags of all shapes and sizes here. Patrick Odenbeck
Section Chair

Patrick, a Colorado transplant, started climbing in high school under the guidance of his father, who was on the Aspen Mountain Rescue team.

After attending university in Fort Collins, he spent ten years climbing along the Front Range. After moving to Bozeman in the mid-2000s, Patrick developed a great affinity (addiction?) for first ascents and exploring.

He has authored many boulder problems, as well as sport, trad, and ice routes. By day he is the International Sales Manager for Mystery Ranch, which has, fortunately, allowed him to travel worldwide, experience different cultures, meet many interesting people, and of course, sneak some climbing days in on the side.
