Asa Firestone -

Chapter Co-Chair

Asa is an avid rock climber and entrepreneur based in Boulder, Colorado. He is passionate about the positive benefits of climbing to inspire and challenge the future generation. Asa is the founder and CEO of the Boulder A-Lodge, an adventure centered hotel. He has co-founded several non-profit organizations focused on making the outdoors more accessible to at-risk youth, including the Centro de Escalada Urbana (CEU) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Asa was awarded a National Geographic Young Explorer award for a first ascent big wall expedition in the Venezuelan Amazon. He has received project support from the American Alpine Club for both alpine objectives as well as his charitable work in Brazil. Asa received his MBA at the University of Southern California, Marshall School in 2012 as a Society and Business Lab Fellow and earned his undergraduate degree in engineering physics from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2005.

Erik was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and getting a PhD in education at CU-Boulder, Erik has adventured in the western United States for fifteen years. He learned to climb mountains in Jackson Hole. Favorite places to climb are Squamish, BC and Ten Sleep, WY. He has a professional interest in program evaluation and a passion for program designs that combine learning and the outdoors recreation. Of Puerto Rican-American descent, Erik has a strong commitment to helping Latino youth have positive experiences outdoors. “In nature we heal, grow, and discover dormant parts of ourselves.” He is a founding member of Climb for Colorado.
